Two Hands Productions presents Pilots: Season 001 - Far Off Places at Town Stages, 221 West Broadway, NYC running March 6-27, 2019, Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Single show tickets are $25 and include one drink ticket for the bar special of the day. $80 season tickets, which include one drink ticket for each of the four dates, are also available. Pilots (https://www.pilotstheshow.com)is an episodic playwriting competition in which writers go head-to-head to win the favor of the audience. Each week the writers will present a ten-minute episode based on a theme. Those who fare well will get another episode, those who don't will have to start over with a brand new pilot episode. At the end of the season the two writers with the most consecutive episodes will face off in a final showdown to determine who wins their golden wings and the season's prize. 

Season 001 of Pilots will feature all writers who are immigrants and first-generation Americans. 

The writers competing in the inaugural season of Pilots include Anooj Bandari, Jayne Deely, Niki Hatzidis, Keurim Hur, and Lilia Shrayfer.

Founded in 2015 by Mark Murray, Two Hands Productions is a theatre company focused on forming and fostering small ensemble driven work, exploring minimalistic storytelling, and investing in unique stories, characters, and perspectives.

"I am so excited to announce the first public Creative Fellows event from the 2019 Class" said Chie Morita, Deputy Director at Town Stages and Coordinator of the Sokoloff Arts Creative Fellowship Program. "Mark has been specifically curious about how community, collaboration, and conversation can be cultivated and fostered with people with backgrounds different than his own, and how gamification and competition really brings humans of all kinds together. Pilots is such a beautiful way to continue the dialogue and ask these big questions. Pilots' ethos is so in line with ours here at Sokoloff Arts: Let's move that cultural needle and showcase stories we have never heard before." 

Anooj Bhandari (writer) wandered around taking long pauses until he found himself here, showing up places claiming to be things and people believed him, so he then became those things. He is a company member of the New York Neo-Futurists where he performs in their weekly show, The Infinite Wrench, and works as the Restorative Justice Coordinator at Make the Road NY. He makes art at the intersection of queerness and diaspora, hoping to play with lifelong liminal space as a place of dignity and joy as he floats within his own, between the Great Lakes and the Ganges.



Jayne Deely (writer) is an Irish and Puerto Rican (Latin-ish? Irecan?) playwright and screenwriter, and a proud native of Queens, NY. She holds a BA in Playwriting and English from Fordham University, where she graduated summa cum laude from the Honors College. Following graduation she relocated to the San Francisco Bay area where she spent a few years deciding acting was more fun before returning to her hometown of NYC and her first love of writing for the stage. Her takeaway: it's all fun and you don't have to choose. She has worked as a PA all over the metro area including a season in the production offices of CBS' Elementary, followed by a stint with the NY production of The Dark Tower film. When not writing, she spends her time figuring out how to end sexual violence in nightlife spaces through her work as continuing education coordinator with OutSmartNYC, or perfecting her double shake while collecting material for future scripts from behind a bar in midtown Manhattan.



Niki Hatzidis (writer) is an actor and award-nominated playwright based in NYC. She co-wrote Steel Birds, an adaptation of Chekhov's Three Sisters, which was nominated for two New York Innovative Theater Awards (Outstanding Premiere Production of a Play and Outstanding Original Full-length Script). Her one-act play, An Almost, premiered at the Thespis Festival in September 2016. Niki has had short plays produced by various theater companies in NYC. She is a writer and producer of "The Beautiful Work Challenge" podcast and a writer on "Standby," a sketch comedy podcast. She is a featured writer in OnStage blog.  www.nikihatzidis.com.

Keurim Hur (writer) has written musicals, plays, screenplays, short stories, novels, various improbable pilots, and tweets for other people. She holds a BA in Film, Television, and Theatre from the University of Notre Dame, an MFA in Writing from the California Institute of the Arts, and an MFA from the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at New York University. Her musical Rapunzel (book and lyrics; music by Gianni Onori) was presented in the 6th Annual DISCOVER: New Musicals program with the National Asian Artists Project.


Lilia Shrayfer (writer) is a recent graduate of Brandeis University, the National Theatre Institute, and Sackett St Writers Workshop. She was a recipient of the 2018 Greenhouse Residency for Emerging Writers at Space on Ryder Farm and a finalist for the Brooklyn Poets Fellowship this year. She is a Bukharian-American playwright, short fiction writer, and poet whose writing has been seen at Boston Playwrights' Theatre, the Midtown International Theatre Festival, and the BRICK. Lilia is also an actor who has appeared at The New York Musical Festival and Columbia University. Collaboration and risk-taking make Lilia tick!
