New Year Brings Laughter to Empire City with Pair of Wednesday Comedy Nights

from Diego Isio

The New Year will have laugh-fest lovers smiling with a pair of Comedy Nights on the 2019 schedule in January at Empire City Casino, Manhattan’s closest casino. The headliner on January 16 is Sam Morril, while Vinnie Brand is front and center on January 30. Both shows get underway at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at just $5 for Empire Club members and come with a complimentary beverage.

Sam Morril, one of the fastest-rising stand-up comics in New York City, is also one of the best joke writers in the scene today. In 2011, Morril won The Laughing Skull Comedy Festival in Atlanta and was named one of Comedy Central’s “Comics to Watch.” More recently, Sam has been seen on Comedy Central’s Adam Devine’s House Party, the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on CBS, and Conan on TBS for multiple appearances. He’s also appeared on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, CBS’s The Late Late Show with James Corden, Last Comic Standing, America’s Got Talent, @Midnight, and Inside Amy Schumer.

Featured comedian Dina Hashem first tried stand-up by auditioning for the 2010 New Jersey Comedy Festival at Rutgers University. After winning 1st place, she continued to pursue comedy and has been performing regularly in New York City. Hashem was a competitor on Comedy Central's Roast Battle, and recently made her late-night debut on Conan on TBS. Her writing has been featured on Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and TV Land’s websites. Ian Fidance is the MC of the night. He can be heard every week on SiriusXM Comedy Central Radio's You Up? with Nikki Glaser, is a regular guest on SiriusXM’s The Bennington Show & Duncan Trussell's Family Hour podcast, and can be seen performing regularly at the Comedy Cellar in the heart of NYC’s Greenwich Village.

As the owner of the Stress Factory Comedy Club, Vinnie Brand knows what it takes to get an audience to laugh out of their seats – exactly what he’ll be doing when he headlines Comedy Night at Empire City Casino on January 30. Even though the NJ-native started as the owner of a comedy club, he has also appeared on various radio and TV shows, including Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, Last Comic Standing, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, and the Opie and Anthony Show.

Joe Praino, the featured comedian of the night, is the comic, actor, podcast host and sports enthusiast who is returning to his home county of Westchester, having been raised in the hamlet of Katonah, NY. Host of the night, Marc Gerber, is a born and bred New Yorker who has been performing stand-up for almost 10 years in New York City and beyond. Marc has been featured on CNN’s RunningMate podcast, NBC, MTV and in The New York Post, just to name a few.

Doors for the comedy show open at 7:00 p.m., with performances beginning at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are sold at the door the night of each show. Admission is $5 for Empire Club members and $25 for non-members; non-members can stop by any promotions booth prior to the show and join the Empire Club for free. Elite Club and President’s Club members gain free admission. All attendees receive a complimentary drink ticket.
