Illumination and The New Flux

from Agora Gallery

This fall Agora Gallery presents two complementary group exhibitions which together re-frame the thematic and stylistic tension between painting and photography. Illumination: An Exhibition of Fine Art Photography showcases 6 photographers whose work allows viewers to a glimpse into worlds both imagined and hyper-real. With a meticulous eye for detail, the works of these photographers highlight the fundamental reality of dreams and desires. The New Flux: Naturalizing the Art of Painting continues this exploration into medium specificity. Featuring 11 artists, the exhibition showcases the full range of techniques and perspectives available in painting today. Commenting on how nature influences the architectural and social development of urban spaces, the artists featured in The New Flux mingle pictorial realism with an almost filmic sense of narrative and tone.

Both exhibitions open October 20 and run through November 9, 2017, with a joint opening reception on Thursday October 26, 2017 6-8 PM. Entrance is free.
