FACULTY CONCERT SERIES Anastasia Antonacos, piano: Celebrating Chamber Music Within Our Communities

from Lori Arsenault

Resident musicians from Portland’s 240 Strings are joined by guest artists from the Portland and Boston chamber music communities for an intimate evening of chamber music. From the soaring sounds of Bach’s 5th Brandenburg Concerto to the contemporary Portraits of award-winning composer Elisenda Fabregas, the program will also include Dvorák’s masterpiece Piano Quintet.

By providing free classical music education, 240 Strings cultivates young minds and hearts, while building community along the way, empowering and connecting young people through exceptional tuition-free music education, mentoring, and performance, and giving all kids a chance to play.

This is an exciting opportunity for all the musicians involved: A performance of some of the best chamber music in the repertoire, created through a collaboration of acclaimed performers. Plus, we bring you some orchestral Bach, specially tailored for the chamber music stage.

Performing in the concert will be USM faculty member Anastasia Antonacos, piano; Nicole Rabata, flute; Tracey Jasas-Hardel, violin; Dean Stein, violin; Trevor Andrews, viola; and Allison Eldredge, cello.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and USM alumni, and $5 for students. Purchase tickets online at www.usm.maine.edu/music/boxoffice, or by calling 207-780-5555.
